Joining the Brighton Surf Life Saving Club (South Australia) will connect you with more than 130,000 surf club members nationally. Our Surf Life Saving Club is a place where people from all walks of life and professions can provide an invaluable community service, whilst learning skills and making friends for life.

Brighton Surf Life Saving Club offers its members many useful skills, accreditation and opportunities in a variety of volunteer positions. Everything revolves around our core business of providing beach safety and a vital community service and playing a fundamental role in building healthy communities and better health outcomes for South Australians of all ages.

Our Club is a meeting place, a training college, a fitness and recreation centre, an emergency evacuation centre, conference facilities, along with encouraging physical activity and teaching important Australian values:

Memberships are available in the following categories:

  • Nippers - Children 5-13 years
  • Cadets - Youth 14-18 years
  • Seniors - Adults 18+ years
  • Masters - Adults 30+ years
  • Supporter
  • Family - 2 adults and all children under 14 or holding a student card

Nipper Junior Activities (5-13 years) - This category is for younger people who want to have fun and learn the basic skills in Surf Life Saving.This category is commonly known as “Nippers” with the emphasis on fun and participation. ‘Nippers’ is designed to provide an educational experience in a wide range of skills within the aquatic environment.

Surf Rescue Certificate (13-15 years) - This is the introduction of the Surf Rescue Certificate. Once this level is achieved you become an “Active” surf lifesaver and start your cadetship to being a fully accredited surf lifesaver.

Bronze Medallion (15+ years) - Members 15 years and over are eligible to train for the Surf Life Saving Australia Bronze Medallion. Active member’s duties include patrolling on the beach. Use of Craft and Equipment other than Boards is subject to your age and proficiency in use of each type of craft (Skis, Surf Boats, IRBs, Rhino, Gym)

Other Awards available - Advanced Resuscitation. Radio Operators, First Aid, Age Group Managers Course, Official’s Course, Coaches Course, IRB Drivers Silver Medallion & Crew Certificate, Patrolling Awards etc.)

You are invited to join our beActive Brighton Jetty Classic Come & Try Open Water Swimming group. It is absolutely FREE to join and involves a Saturday afternoon swim for all levels of ability, with the goal of helping participants get in shape for the Jetty400 or Channel 7 Brighton Jetty Classic 1500.

When: Every Saturday at 2:45pm starting early November
Where: Registration each Saturday at 2:15pm upstairs at the Brighton Surf Life Saving Club Rooms, The Esplanade.
