How to join

New members are always welcome at Brighton Surf Life Saving Club (South Australia).  Whether you intend to compete, patrol, enjoy the beach, socialise or commence training within your age group we have something to offer you.


The Surf Life Saving season runs from the 1 October to the 30 September. Registrations and membership renewals open on the 1 October each year following the Annual General Meeting.

Brighton SLSC is 100% volunteer based and asks its members to assist with key functions to operate the club. This means all monies raised goes back to our members rather than to paying personnel.

To become a member of Brighton you must first register with Surf Life Saving Australia (SLSA) and create a members account.
NOTE: this is not required for a Community/Supporter membership. Please complete the simple form upstairs at the bar.

Existing / Renewing Members

Log into your Member Portal to renew your membership for the season. Don’t’ forget to update all contact information and pay your fees.

For parents renewing memberships for Nippers and Youth please ensure you update all medical details. Health forms will not be requested for this season, a parent must always be on the beach for Nippers.

NIPPER PARENTS NOTE: For Nipper membership at least one parent must also be registered, and a parent will need to accompany the child to Nipper activities (and join in too!).

New Members

If you have NEVER been a member of a SLSC your membership is conducted through the Surf Life Saving Australia portal.  Follow the steps below.

Step 1: Apply

Click on SLSA Joining for New Members

  • Scroll to the bottom of the screen to ‘No’ and select Join
  • Select ‘Surf Life Saving Club’
  • Scroll Down ‘Surf Life Saving Club’ from the options
  • Search For “Brighton SLSC (SA)” as the club you want to join
  • Select Family or Individual.

NOTE: If applying as a family you must apply for EACH family member (starting with the ‘primary’ member, which might be yourself) then the others on subsequent rows.

The system will prompt you to set up an SLSA Member Area account. This is essential for club payments, renewals and change of details.

Step 2: Pay

At the end of this process you will be asked to pay with a credit card. Click on the ‘make payment’ button that appears after you have submitted your application(s).

Please note that your membership application will not be progressed UNTIL payment is received. Once you’ve applied, even if you’ve skipped payment, a generic automatic email will come to you from Surf Life Saving Australia that implies that you should wait to hear from the club.

Family Membership $380
Up to 2 adults and all children under 14 years or holding a student concession

Senior Membership $190*

As a club member, you can be involved in any or all areas of the BSLSC including obtaining your Bronze medallion, having access to club equipment, becoming a surf sports official, being involved in club administration, or being involved in social and fundraising activities. Noting that access to the gym is for proficient, patrolling members – or members who hold an official position.

Cadet (14-18 years) $160*

Nipper (7-13 years old) $160
Includes carnival and State Titles entry fees
At least one parent must join with their nipper at an additional cost of $60 for the season. 

Nipper - Under 7 (5-6 years old) which includes 1 Parent - $145
(additional U7 children $55 each)
At least one parent must join with their nipper

*Competiton Fees $80 - This one-off fee must  be paid by all wishing to compete for Brighton including U14 age group, Cadets, Seniors, and Boaties. Noting Masters fee is $70. It covers:

  • Carnival entry fees
  • All State Titles Events
  • Australian Title entry fees

Australian Surf Rowers League (ASRL) $25. This is an one-off annual fee for competing Boaties in addition to the Competition fee

NB: Fees are inclusive of GST. All memberships will be accepted on a “case by case” basis at the absolute discretion of the Brighton SLSC Board of Management.

Supporter Membership $60 (non voting), Bar & Function area access only & up to five guests per member. Membership upgrades available on application for access to other club areas & facilities. Intending Community/Supporter members are welcome to complete a simple registration form upstairs at the bar.
