Your Age Group Manager will be able to provide information specific to each carnival including times, parking, meeting places etc.
What To Bring
For carnivals/State Championships
- Nippers must have a hi-vis vest, cap and long sleeve shirt to be eligible to compete. Broad brim hats may also be required and provide extra sun protection during marshalling.
- No wetsuits can be worn for water events, and there are rules about the types of swimwear permitted.
- Bring plenty of snacks and water for carnival days.
- R&R competitors require specific caps for competition that will be supplied by the R&R coach.
- March Past competitors require matching uniforms (available from clothes tub from club trailer) and reel.
- Champion Lifesaver competitors have additional equipment requirements
Carnival Information
Surf Lifesaving SA provides circulars and calendars that contain up to date information about scheduling and event plans for carnivals and other events – always use this information. Nippers events are coded in teal/aqua blue.
Age Group Specific Events
As your Nipper grows older, new events become available that extend their knowledge and skills in surf lifesaving. Standard events for each age group include Swim, Boards, Wade (ceases at U10’s), Sprints, Flags and Distance Run
- Under 10s – 2 person R&R (Rescue and Resuscitation); 5 person R&R
- Under 11s - Ironperson
- Under 12s – Board Rescue
- Under 13s – Champion Lifesaver (includes new event of Rescue Tube race)
