Welcome to Brighton Surf Lifesaving Club (BSLSC) Nippers!

On behalf of the Club President, Club Captain, Board of Management, Age Group Managers, and all our members, we are excited to welcome your family to the BSLSC. We hope this marks the beginning of a lifelong involvement in the Surf Lifesaving movement.

This guide is designed to help parents engage with their child’s Nipper season and become an active part of our vibrant surf lifesaving community. The Nipper program not only keeps kids engaged and teaches them essential surf safety skills, but also gives parents a chance to relax and enjoy all that BSLSC has to offer.

At BSLSC, we prioritize fun, skill development, and fostering community awareness across all ages and backgrounds. Through our Nipper program, we aim to:

  • Create lasting friendships through fun experiences
  • Develop surf awareness in a safe and supportive environment
  • Build confidence and beach-related skills
  • Promote health, fitness, and sun-smart practices
  • Provide a foundation for Nippers to become future Surf Lifesavers
  • Cultivate well-rounded, positive members of our community

Our Nippers begin their journey with the Surf Lifesaving Surf Education Program, learning surf safety through swimming, running, board paddling, and other beach activities. While competition plays a part, our primary goal is education, all within a fun and healthy environment unique to surf lifesaving.
In recent years, our Club has grown in both membership and competitive success, becoming a leader in surf education and one of the best in South Australia. This growth is due to the incredible volunteer efforts of our dedicated members.

Surf Lifesaving is one of the most affordable sports, as most of our operations rely on volunteers. There are plenty of ways you can get involved—whether as an Age Group Manager, coach, water safety officer, marshal, official, or helping with BBQs and setup/pack up. By volunteering, you’ll not only support our Nippers but also experience the satisfaction of contributing to your child’s journey, while making new connections and enjoying the sense of community.

We look forward to an exciting and rewarding season ahead.

See you on the beach!
