Child Safety is EVERYONE'S business

Surf Life Saving has formally committed to keeping children and young people safe and so this has become an integral part of SLS culture and operations. There is a responsibility to build and maintain environments that are both child safe and child-friendly. These are environments where children and young people:

  • Are protected
  • Feel respected, valued and encouraged to reach their full potential
  • Are heard

To enable this at Brighton SLSC we have Child Safe Officers who have been nominated and approved at the Annual General meeting. These officers will:

  • Work closely with the MPIO as first point of contact for members who have concerns about a child or young person
  • They may provide advice and support to assist a member with making a report
  • May be responsible for facilitating the process to help ensure a child safe environment
  • Document all reports, concerns and findings

The Brighton SLSC Child Safe Officers are:

The Board of Management to uplift the Child Safe Awareness Training completion rates and also ensure that all members have a valid WWCC.

Remember if you need to report something that does not align to the Child Safe Policy call 131 444 to make a report. You will then be asked to go to reporting.sls.com.au and complete a report. If you have any issues with doing this please reach out to our Child Safe Representatives (Nicky Morgan, Greg Stock).
